Marc Bennett and Julie Seraphinoff of East Lansing, Mich., took four firsts and threw out a second to win the 2022 U.S. Wayfarer Nationals held Sept. 24-25 at the Lake Fenton Sailing Club, Lake Fenton, Mich. The Wayfarers joined Rebel sailors for the 2022 Lake Fenton SC One-Design Regatta.

It is no understatement to say the competition was tough in the eight-boat Wayfarer fleet. Bennett-Seraphinoff in W11339 spent the weekend with Peggy Menzies and crew Chris McGrane nipping at their transom. Peggy and Chris of the Michigan Sailing Club near Ann Arbor, Mich., finished with three seconds, a first, throwing out a third.

This was the first time Wayfarers have sailed on Lake Fenton at the beautiful LFSC. The regatta, also attended by eight Rebels, featured gracious hosts in club members, lovely grounds and the best-of-the-best food from The Laundry in Fenton, Mich. It is not cliche to say a good time was had by all and we hope to return to the venue. Thank you Tim Nickels for the leading the charge to rejuvenate this regatta.

The lovely Lake Fenton Sailing Club on Lake Fenton, Mich. was a great fall setting for the Rebels and Wayfarers.
The food! The food! A member of LFSC is owner of The Laundry in Fenton, Mich. and catered all of the food for the weekend. There’s no doubt that is what Julie Seraphinoff was talking about with Rebel sailors Mary and Aaron Reif of the Grand Rapids Yacht Club, Grand Rapids, Mich. Photo by Al Schonborn
