We are the United States Wayfarer Association, as opposed to the UKWA ( United Kingdom Wayfarer Association) or the CWA (Canadian Wayfarer Association) or the NedWA ( Netherlands Wayfarer Association) or the SWA (Scandinavian Wayfarer Association). The uniting Craft being the legendary Wayfarer Sailboat. (https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/wayfarer-development-history/) But if you live in the lower 48, Alaska or Hawaii, you have arrived at the right website, the United States Wayfarer Association. Welcome!

Impressive, five associations scattered around the Northern Hemisphere all in support of one boat. Why all the fuss? Consider the balance and grace of the boat, going to windward in 17 knots of wind, mast bent to a slight gull wing curve, spray flying over the deck, but with fingertip control. Its a boat you sail with, not against, your ally. It inspires the desire to race and the courage to cruise, even if that cruise is the open waters of the Atlantic.

The USWA is the organizing association for the Wayfarer Class for the United States . There are Wayfarers scattered across the U.S. but our concentrations are in Michigan ( Fleet 2) the South East, primarily in the Carolinas ( Fleet 15) and Florida at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club (Fleet 3). But as a class, and as the name suggests, we travel. We organize events, racing(https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/racing/ )and cruising( https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/cruising/ ) from Maine to Florida out to the Great Lakes. (https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/uswa-calendar/ )

On this website you will find boat specifications, technical information (https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/wayfarer-class-info/), racing information, cruising information , vendor ( https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/wayfarer-distributor/ ) information and of course, boats for sale (https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/wayfarer-market/). We endeavor to persevere to organize and present the information for the Class in the best manner possible. That said, there are questions which we may not have anticipated. As an example, we had a question the other day about maintaining one’s “bum” comfort while long distance cruising. Not a question we had thought about but there is an answer. Which leads me to my point, the most important part of our website is the Contact Information(https://uswayfarer.org/USWFWordpress/index.php/contact-us/). Please contact us, contact me, Richard Johnson, the Commodore if you can’t find the information you would like. Trust me, we have all done that ourselves in the past, it is the best way to get the information you need. Once again, welcome to the USWA website.

Best Regards

Richard Johnson

Commodore.
